Day Motor Sports Driver Profile: 4 Divisions in 2024 for Patrik Daniel
Versatile drivers, you see them at all levels of motorsports, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, RTJ, Chase Hatton, Dean Abbey, Mark Underwood Jr….. Patrik Daniel. This week’s Day Motorsports Driver Spotlight will focus on the incredible talent that is Wills Point, Texas native Patrik Daniel, whom has already raced in 4 different divisions in 2024.
Patrik’s racing journey began by watching his father, Wayne Daniel rip around the dirt ovals of North Texas. Wayne was a 1984 Super Bowl (Now Hunt County) Speedway Track Champion. On a Saturday in 1995 a spark caught and ignited Patrik’s flame for racing, the family bought an IMCA Modified in the morning and that night a 15 year old “PD” made his first career start at North Texas Motor Speedway in Royse City, Texas!
Success wasn’t instant for Patrik, but he kept improving year after year until he found Victory Lane at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Jacksonville, Texas in the year 2000. In 2005, Daniel would join the ranks of the Southern United Professional Racing Series also known as SUPR. Patrik was the 2005 Rookie of the year and won the Louisiana State Dirt Track Championship at Baton Rouge Raceway with the touring Super Late Model Series.
When you race for as long as Patrik has you have to expect some bad with the good, in 2019, Patrik totaled his Modified in a horrific crash at Lonestar Speedway that could’ve easily ended a lot worse than it did, Patrik walked away from the scene unharmed. PD has also made a name for himself at the Gateway Dirt Nationals becoming a fan favorite in St. Louis every December.
The 2024 racing season has been good to “The Texas Terror” he is the current Day Motorsports Points Leader for the Southern States Modified Series with 3 wins in 3 Starts thus far for the 2024 campaign for the Northeast Style/Center-Steer Modified Series. Patrick also got to race against his son Jace Daniel, in his first career start at, you guessed it, Hunt County Raceway, 30 years after Patrik’s Father and Jace’s Grandfather, Wayne Daniel won the track championship on that very same property.
When asked about the future of his Racing career PD said “I’d like to run more national events and win at least one national event, I’d like to run the Summer Nationals Hell Tour for as long as I could afford to.” The Southern States Modified Series will be in action Saturday July 20th at 105 Motor Speedway in Cleveland, Texas and the Crate powered #7 of Patrik Daniel is sure to be a factor.
