Day Motorsports Feature Driver: Chase Cook Following The Legacy

We tend to start them young in the sport of Dirt Track racing but it seems the Rookie Drivers and Young Superstars of Racing get younger and younger as the years go by. The DFW Metroplex has multiple tracks that showcase the youth of the sport through the Junior Limited Class, the Ark-La-Tex area does not have that option.

For young drivers in East Texas or North Louisiana it’s a sink or swim mentality, Rookie drivers are instantly competing against Adults and in some cases veteran drivers. That is the scenario for 12 Year Old Driver Chase Cook from Shreveport, Louisiana, Chase is a 3rd generation Rookie Driver that is racing in the Sportster Division in North Louisiana.

The Sportster division has proven to be ultra competitive with over 10 different drivers winning at this point in the 2024 season. Chase has achieved a career best finish of 6th on two different occasions at Ark-La-Tex Speedway In Vivian, Louisiana. When asked about his favorite Race Track the young gun said “My favorite track is Ark-la-Tex. Because it has long straightaways. Even though I smoked the wall, I like that it doesn’t have walls all the way around it.” The smoking of the wall Chase referred to can be found on the Race On TikTok page, the 23C collided with the front straightway wall which ended his night, the following night Chase and his family had the car back together and he rallied to his career best finish in 6th Place.

Racing has been in the family since before Chase was born, both of his Grandfathers have racing experience, Mike Washburn still actively racing in the Pro-Mods and Bobby Cook Sr. raced as well. Chase’s parents both have racing in their blood, his Father, BJ Cook races a Pro-Mod and his Mother, Brittney Washburn raced a Beginner Cruiser on one occasion. Uncle Brett Washburn also raced Modifieds when he was racing, needless to say this kid has racing pumping through his veins. When he isn’t behind the wheel of a Race car he is likely holding a ball, Chase plays Baseball and Basketball for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana  Chase was asked, Where do you see your racing career in five years? The kid responded, “I want to be in a modified”.
